Hertfordshire County Council Extends Contract
The Technology Forge has signed a new contract to build on our established relationship with the Children, Schools and Families (CSF) Directorate of Hertfordshire County Council (HCC). With over 600 properties, CSF has one of the largest property portfolios in the country.
CSF began using tf. facility in 2002 to take advantage of the strong integration between AutoCAD drawings and the TF database, and particularly to enable the easy creation of Suitability and Sufficiency surveys.
Following the success of this exercise, CSF introduced tf. web in 2003 to provide web access for head teachers. Since 2004, the system has operated as a hosted Citrix solution allowing Spatial Intelligence, the company that produces and manages CSF’s CAD plans, to produce and synchronise drawings remotely with no interruptions to the day to day operation of the system at CSF. This service allows all parties to effectively collaborate online with perceptible benefits in service delivery.
The new contract will significantly extend the system to include modules for curriculum analysis, online suitability surveys, online ‘Approved Contractors’, desktop and web mapping and online helpdesk, whilst the online DFC module will assist CSF in improving capital project planning & building reporting in schools.
Adam Watson , Sales Director at The Technology Forge, says of the project:‘We are delighted and proud to be building on our relationship with CSF. The Technology Forge has successfully delivered and continues to deliver an Education configured Asset Management System to the Children, Schools and Families (CSF) Directorate, assisting with its commitments to deliver high quality services to its stake holders - schools, DfES, suppliers and other Hertfordshire County Council departments’.
Keith Hutt , Asset Planning Manager, at CSF added by saying: ‘The Technology Forge has been a key player in the development of DfES AMP data in Hertfordshire. They have been extremely pro-active in responding to our needs and in helping us to develop ways of showing and analysing our data. They have also worked very effectively with Spatial Intelligence, who collect data for us and produce our CAD plans. I am very pleased to recommend them’.

Third Scottish Authority for TF
We are delighted to announce that South Ayrshire Council has chosen tf. facility asset management planning software from The Technology Forge. The decision is the result of the Scottish authority’s rigorous tender selection process to find a solution to assist with managing their corporate and educational building stock. Bill Gray, Service Planning and Development Manager, sums up the Council’s objectives:
‘We have a requirement for a system that will support Asset Management Planning within our Authority and inform our capital investment and planned maintenance programmes. We also wish to provide more information about the condition of buildings and compliance with regulations to end users, therefore web enabled software is very important to us. We also wish to open up the information that we hold on asbestos to building mangers and to link this easily to AutoCAD drawings.’
To meet these, the tf. facility configuration will seamlessly link to AutoCAD – users will be able to view the actual asbestos location and details on the drawing file. A bi-directional link to CAD will also ensure the drawing and database are kept fully synchronised. Further modules include the Core Framework, Condition, DDA, Suitability and Sufficiency Survey modules, Project Management, Help Desk and Pre-Planned Maintenance. tf. web will also be incorporated. In Scotland, South Ayrshire Council joins Fife and East Ayrshire Councils in using The Technology Forge system for full corporate asset management, confirming that tf. facility is an ideal match for Scottish Authority requirements.
Bill Gray adds: ‘We chose Technology Forge because the package most closely met the specification that we had prepared and met all of our criteria in terms of quality and price. We look forward to developing a successful business partnership with The Technology Forge that helps us to get the most from our building assets.’
