Babcock Infrastructure Services (BIS)
Babcock was established over 100 years ago in 1891 by Messrs Babcock and Wilcox who had already set up a successful steam boiler making business in the USA. The UK Company was given the rights to manufacture the Babcock boiler throughout the world other than North America. The business grew successfully throughout the 20th Century and the company became famous not only for it’s steam boilers, particularly marine boilers, but also for its involvement in the heavy engineering aspects of the power generation industries.
During the 1980’s and 1990’s this traditional business went into decline and the Company began to diversify into the delivery of support services, initially through the contractorisation of the Rosyth Dockyard. This heralded the beginning of a radical transformation of the business from engineering to support services, completed in December 2002 when the business was reclassified on the London Stock Exchange.
Babcock Infrastructure Services is within the Group which is a wholly owned subsidiaries of Babcock International Group.
Babcock Infrastructure Services (BIS)
The customers of BIS are mainly public sector organisations who have a large and complex infrastructure. BIS helps its customers:
 Maintain and operate their estates efficiently
Determine future levels of investment
Adapt property of structures for new or expanded purposes.
BIS customers include the Ministry of Defence (Defence Estates), The Crown Estate, the Home Office, Oxfordshire County Council, Birmingham City Council, The London Borough of Ealing and the Oil Pipeline Agency.
BIS has also been successful, though its joint venture company Debut Services Limited (jointly owned with Bovis Lend Lease) in being awarded the contract for the modernisation of single living accommodation for the RN, Army and RAF, known as Project SLAM, and most recently South West Prime Contract with the MoD.
P.D.G Design and Project Management Division
The P.D.G Design and Project Management Division has extensive experience in delivering Measured Electronic Building, Condition Surveys and DDA Audits for incorporation into client Asset Management Data Bases for various clients within the public sector including Local Authorities and MoD. And has had a long association with Technology Forge and continues to work in partnership on several major commissions.
Although Babcock Infrastructure Services specialising in large-scale portfolio work, The P.D.G Design and Project Management Division within BIS, are equally able to provide a client-focused, professional service for DDA, multi disciplinary design and project management and Asset Management purposes on any size of scheme.
